As the Strugle continues .. another generation is lost....

This is an anonymous story about a strike on a campus. The facts is not verified so it is not the view of For Africa. We intend no harm and only publish this for the sake of democracy and the influence it has on people. We do not condemn or condone any action commit or suggested to be committed during this Student unrest. As a Travel Domain we wish to get stories about lifestyle in Africa to people so the hardships and intrigue can be understood by all.

A Student's Story:
The strike was started as a results of failure to meet the demands made by the Students Representative Council(SRC of The University of Zululand situated at a township by the name of KwaDlangezwa in the province of KwaZulu Natal, south africa) i.e NSFAS(NATIONAL STUDENTS FUNDING SCHEME) Issue(it has been suspected that there was some corruption between the NSFAS Head office officials and the people responsible of giving it to deserving students),the 2nd issue is the housing issue,a lot of students were not accommodated in the residence because they were owing the school and the issue of having three room mates was canceled. The 3rd issue was that of having outdated books in the library)
It was also reported that the SRC president signed a contract without reading it which made it almost impossible for the Management of the Varsity to give them some of their demands. Many students were forced to leave their rooms(they would put water under your door until you came out and joined them) and all the students who were found studying on the lecture halls were force to leave their classes and some of them got beaten and the lecturers had to run for their lives.
The strike started on Thursday morning and continued on Friday, the Police were all over campus.i  In the afternoon the strike became tense and the students marched to Protective Servic Department(PSD) Where the polide stood ,blocking the students from proceeding to the main gate. One of the PSD shot a student with a rubber bullet without an order, which made the students furious and stubborn and as a results, one of the students threw a PSD with a stone in the face .
The students were asked to march back to the SRC office while the SRC go and negotiate with the Management and the PSD to also release some of the SRC members they arrested.when the cops took the guys who were arrested to the police van thex became furious and the cops together with the PSD started shooting the students with rubber bullets, the student ran away while the cops were chasing them while they were fighting back with stones and bricks.a lot of students were hurt while fleing the cops.the cops chased them to their residences, the students stood inside their residence and threw stone at the cops while the cops were shooting back.even innocent people were shot on the road.

As a results, the vice-chacellor and the senate wrote a notice that all the students must evacuate with immediate effect and the institution will be closed until the 2nd of march.all the students were given one hour to evacuate except for international students and students from other provinces(which were promised a temporal accommodation somewhere off campus).

I think the rector was afraid of the incident that happened in 2009 where the students burned down one lecture hall and broke the windows of various buildings.this was a battle between ANC and IFP student representative council ,about two people died and a lot broke their legs and arms when they were thrown out of the windows by the opposite parties.

Editor's Word:
It is true that much has to be done to wrong the rights of the past. The sad story line is in this ....

"Many students were forced to leave their rooms(they would put water under your door until you came out and joined them) and all the students who were found studying on the lecture halls were force to leave their classes and some of them got beaten and the lecturers had to run for their lives."

Why should people who have no grievances be forced to join ... yes it is for the cause ... but how legitimate is the struggle if in a democratic South Africa some one joins a cause because his/her life is threatened. ???
